Riad Samsara is not a hotel. It is an old house in the Marrakech medina, patiently restored near Bab Taghzout, where one comes to slow down. In the evening, candles are lit along the galleries, wood fires catch in the salons, and the tadelakt holds the warmth of the day like a hand resting on the wall.
Here, luxury is measured differently: the song of the zellige fountain beneath the orange trees, roses cut in the morning, the shadow of the moucharabieh drifting across the patio, the calm of a house set in the heart of a living medina.

The riad's most intimate retreat: a candlelit hideaway with hand-painted headboards and a wrought-iron balcony hanging over the patio fountain. The bathroom, in soothing green tadelakt, hides behind an arched moucharabieh door.

The most outgoing of the three: a vibrant, generous suite with a high beamed ceiling, an oversized bed, a fireplace for winter evenings and a red kilim banquette beneath the whirling dervishes. The bathroom is clad in Burgundy marble.

The table
Each morning, breakfast is laid out in the patio among the orange trees: msemen and beghrir straight from the griddle, warm breads, homemade jams, fresh-squeezed orange juice and mint tea. In the evening, by reservation, Milouda simmers a Moroccan dinner — fragrant tagines served by candlelight, in the salon or beneath the patio's open sky. Vegetarian dishes with pleasure, simply ask.
